Zach McCarthy

Zach McCarthy MA, LPC, ASDCA received his Master’s in Counseling Psychology from North Park University and is a licensed counselor in the state of Illinois. Through his clinical training, he gained experience with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, Autism, ADHD, interpersonal issues, life transitions and with clients of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. He has extensive experience working with couples and utilizes the Gottman method and EFT to help couples who experience communication issues, sexual dysfunction, interpersonal conflict and crisis. Zach also specializes in working with neurodivergent couples. Zach understands the importance of the therapeutic relationship and works to establish rapport with the clients by creating a welcoming, safe and non-judgmental space.
He works from a client-centered approach as he knows there are no cookie cutter solutions in achieving goals. He believes in empowering the client to have full autonomy when making life decisions. Zach supports the use of all therapeutic modalities and has experience using, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
