Fees and Insurance

We are currently accepting new patients and will be conducting therapy sessions using both in-person and Telehealth platforms. Your deductible and or copay remain the same with Telehealth Services/in-person sessions and will continue to be covered by BCBS PPO according to your individual policy plan.

Please review our therapy costs and insurance procedures prior to your first appointment. Please note that the following rates DO NOT APPLY to patients using BCBS PPO Insurance Plans. Rates for patients using BCBS PPO Insurance Policies are dependent upon individual and family policies. BCBS PPO patients are ONLY responsible for their deductibles, co-pays and or co-insurance rates. BCBS PPO Insurance should cover most, if not all of your visit, minus your deductible, co-pay or co-insurance. To find out specific Behavioral Health Coverage for your BCBS PPO Policy, please call the number listed on the back of your BCBS insurance card. The following rates ONLY apply when using out-of-network insurance providers and cash paying clients.

Consultations, individual, couple and family sessions are $180 for 53 minutes of service.

Any additional time needed in sessions will be billed in 15 minute increments at the rate of $60. These added costs are usually covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance plans but can not be guaranteed.

Crisis appointments made the same day of service are $225 a session, billed at $60 per 15  minutes increments of added time and also usually covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance plans but can not be guaranteed.

 Other Fees and Services:

  • Review of records: Billed in 15 minute increments at the rate of $60
  • Phone consultation or email correspondence taking less than 10 minutes: No charge
  • Phone consultation or correspondence requiring more than 10 minutes: Billed in 15 minute increments at the rate of $60
  • Missed appointments: $180 per hour if not cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance

Astute Counseling Services is contracted with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO PLANS ONLY. We submit all insurance claims for clients who have BCBS PPO as their insurance provider.

We also work with out-of-network insurance providers and other insurance carriers who may cover some or all of the fees listed above. Patients are responsible for paying our fees up front and then submitting claims by mailing in a “Super Bill” provided by Astute Counseling Services requesting reimbursement from your out-of-network insurance company (Aetna, United, Humana, Cigna, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO etc) responsible party or third-party payer.

Out-of-pocket therapy costs for clients using alternative insurance plans depend on the provider’s reimbursement rate; you are responsible for finding out your reimbursement rates and out-of-pocket costs. We will be happy to discuss those costs with you before billing.

Rates may change, based on information provided by your insurance company.

At each session, we ask you to pay either your co-pay, 100% of the fee (if you haven’t met your deductible) or the full cash payment.

Please note that insurance may not reimburse you for divorce mediation, review of records, extensive phone consultations or missed appointments.
