Kimberly Thomas MA, LPC, RBT (she/her/hers) is a talented and passionate professional with experience in anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and interpersonal issues. She is a results-driven and compassionate Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a focus in Forensic counseling, who utilizes her educational background and experience to work with a diverse population of patients. Kim completed her Master’s degree in Forensic Counseling from Alder University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She helps clients to identify and set realistic and achievable goals for treatment. Kim believes that success is defined by the client and takes a client-centered, strengths-based approach to empower her clients. She takes time building the therapeutic relationship in order to foster change and growth while providing the client with a safe space to practice new behaviors and life skills.
She helps clients to identify and set realistic and achievable goals for treatment. Kim uses DBT techniques to build and maintain coping skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills, and distress tolerance skills. Kim also integrates aspects of CBT, Adlerian, and motivational interviewing into her therapeutic work. She is trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and has completed her advanced training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II (CCTP II).
